Microdermabrasion is non- invasive skin resurfacing treatment that gently exfoliates the outermost layer of dead skin cells, helping to to reveal smoother, brighter and fresher- looking skin underneath.

Using controlled crystal exfoliation and suction, the treatment helps improve skin texture, remove surface build up and encourage a more refined appearance.

What happens during treatment?

​

The skin is cleansed before the microdermabrasion handpiece is passed over the skin, gently exfoliating the surface while vacuum suction removes dead skin cells and debris.

Most clients find the treatment comfortable, with skin feeling smoother and fresher immediately afterwards.

Essential Microdermabrasion Facial 

During this 30 minute SkinBase facial thousands of tiny crystals are used to polish away the very outermost layer of skin. Using a combination of exfoliation and vacuum action, pores are unblocked and impurities removed from the skin to reveal a fresh, healthy and radiant complexion.

 Deluxe Microdermabrasion Facial 

The SkinBase deluxe facial includes a deep exfoliating Microdermabrasion treatment that will leave skin super smooth, clean and refreshed; perfectly prepped for applying one of our hydrating masks. The pampering doesn't end there, while our mask works its magic, we will work ours with a relaxing neck and shoulder massage for the ultimate pampering. Pure bliss.

 Advanced Microdermabrasion Facial 

Similar to our Essential facial but with particular attention paid to problem areas. Ideal as a second treatment to really concentrate on areas of congestion around the T-Zone, fine lines on the forehead and around the eyes. A course of treatment may be more appropriate so make sure to ask us about those. Courses can be specially tailored to your needs to achieve the best results possible.

 Monthly Maintenance Facial

After a course of treatment you will need to maintain the results and keep your skin in tip top condition. Skin renews itself about every 4 weeks so we recommend a monthly maintenance treatment to ensure the old skin is exfoliated to maintain a glowing complexion. Microdermabrasion also helps the absorption of skincare products into the skin, so your at home skincare routine is more effective. MD also enhances the barrier function of your skin helping to lock in moisture.

 

Targeted Treatment Plans

Microdermabrasion can also be used as part of a personalised treatment plan for concerns such as acne and congestion, pigmentation, uneven skin tone, fine lines, dullness and general skin rejuventaion.

​

Because microdermabrasion works progressively, a course may be recommended depending on your skin and concern being treated. Treatments are commonly spaced around 7-10 days apart during a course, followed by maintenance treatments once the desired results have been achieved.

​

A consultation will help determine the most suitable treatment plan for your skin.

Aftercare Advice 

 

  • For 12 hours after:  Do not wear heavy makeup (you can use mineral makeup as it doesn’t block the skin)

  • For 24 hours after: No swimming, facial waxing or fake tan application

  • For 48 Hours after: No sauna, sun beds or sun exposure. No botox, collagen injections or dermal fillers. 

  • For 72 Hours after: Do not use any anti-ageing creams, AHA’s, glycolics, retinol or exfoliating products.

  • At all times during a course, apply SPF 15 (at least) and avoid UV exposure. Regular moisturiser applications are vital to replenish the skin and prevent it becoming dry and peeling.

 

Use SPF 15+ (at least) throughout a course to protect skin and regularly apply moisturiser to replenish moisture.

 

If your skin does feel hot or dry and itchy – splash with cold water, pat dry and moisturise regularly with a gentle hydrating moisturiser such as the SkinBase homecare with spf. Skin may appear red after treatment, this is perfectly normal and any redness will generally subside within 72 hours.
